THE FOUNDATION STUDY PROGRAM by Correspondence
taught by Resident Teacher Gen Kelsang Dornying
Many Buddhist practitioners have a sincere wish to deepen their knowledge and experience of Dharma and to gain authentic spiritual realisations through a structured program of Dharma studies. The Foundation Program is designed to fulfil this wish. It provides a systematic presentation of the basic subjects of Mahayana Buddhism and forms a perfect basis for a strong daily practice.
Our present understanding and experience of Dharma is quite superficial. There is a big gap between our mind and Dharma and we cannot apply Dharma in our daily lives. Our approach remains passive, like someone watching television, and our mind remains as uncontrolled as before. Why is this? It is because we are not studying systematically, according to a specially designed program. If we just pick at Dharma randomly we shall never gain deep and stable experience. For this reason the foundation program is very important.Geshe Kelsang Gyatso
THE NEW EIGHT STEPS TO HAPPINESS
Join the Foundation Program (FP) with Gen Kelsang Dornying studying The New Eight Steps to Happiness, Geshe Kelsang Gyatso’s detailed and practical explanation of one of Buddhism’s best-loved teachings, Eight Verses of Training the Mind, by the great Tibetan Bodhisattva, Geshe Langri Tangpa.
Deepen your practice of Buddhism by studying clear methods for improving relationships and transforming difficulties into spiritual insights. Learn to skilfully train in patience, compassion and wisdom, and start your journey towards the state of full enlightenment. Starting in September 2018, this course is an ideal way for those with some previous exposure to our drop-in classes to move to the next level.
Joining FP involves enrolling for a section of the book and listening to all the classes, as well as completing an end of term exam. Each class consists of a guided meditation, teaching and discussion – made available to you as an MP3 file via Dropbox.
Gen Kelsang Dornying is the Resident Teacher of both Kadampa Meditation Centre (KMC) Australia and Kadampa Meditation Centre Melbourne. He has been teaching Kadam Dharma for over 15 years. He is an inspiring and light-hearted teacher of modern Buddhism who makes Buddha’s teachings clear, accessible and applicable to modern life.
