Ritual Practice with an introductory talk by Kelsang Luma
Fri 4 - 6 Apr | KMC Australia (Dandenong Ranges)
This special fasting and purification retreat is performed in conjunction with the meditation practice of Thousand-armed Avalokiteshvara. Engaging in this retreat is very powerful for purifying negative karma and pacifying strong delusions such as desirous attachment and hatred. It is also a special method for receiving the blessings of Buddha and improving our love, compassion and bodhichitta (the wish to attain enlightenment for the benefit of all). Usually this practice is done over two days, with the Mahayana precepts* being taken at the beginning of each day. On the first day it is customary to abstain from all meals apart from lunch. On the second day we engage in a complete fast, abstaining from all food and drink for 24 hours. On both days, we do three sessions of meditation, combining prostrations with chanted meditation. Those who are unable to engage in a complete fast can participate in the sessions on the second day, provided they take the Mahayana precepts on that day. Each session is free of charge. For those who wish to join us for dinner on Friday or lunch on Saturday please book for this - $8 per meal. *The Mahayana precepts are vows we take to abstain from certain actions for the duration of 24 hours. For more information about precepts please email education@kadampa.org.au or see: kadampa. org/buddhism/taking-precepts
The retreat will begin with an introductory talk by Kelsang Luma at 7.30pm on Friday 4 April.

Guided Retreat with Kelsang Monlam
Fri 6 - 9 June | KMC Australia (Dandenong Ranges)
In the Sutras and Mahamudra scriptures Buddha says: “If you realize your own mind you will become a Buddha; you should not seek Buddhahood elsewhere.” There is nothing more powerful than the mind.
Beauty and ugliness, good and bad, happiness and suffering – all depend upon mind. Everything we see, hear, smell, taste or touch with our sense awarenesses, or perceive with our mental awareness, is created by mind. How? Through imputation. An object only exists because the mind imputes it. This is true of everything. The world, enjoyments, houses, cars, bodies, speech and we ourself all develop only through being imputed by mind.
Mind is therefore the creator of all things, including the entire world.
Join us at Kadampa Meditation Centre Australia to enjoy a profound retreat with visiting teacher Kelsang Monlam. Through gaining a deep experience of the mind itself in mahamudra meditation we can tap into the power of the mind, experience an inner peace we had never previously imagined possible and create a pure world born from that stillness.

This weekend course and silent retreat led by visiting teacher Gen Kelsang Tonglam is an opportunity to embark upon and deepen our understanding that things do not exist outside of the mind but are just mere appearances, like dreams. With this knowledge, we can solve all our problems, find freedom from all limitations, and be of the greatest benefit to the world.
