Silent Retreat with Gen Kelsang Rabten
23 - 28 Jan | KMC Australia (Dandenong Ranges)
With concentration our mind becomes bright and clear like a cloudless sky and we naturally experience a deep inner strength and mental stability. With this, the pain and turbulence of craving naturally declines and it is easy to remain content. It is said that pure concentration gives us the freedom to accomplish whatever we wish for, whereas, without it, we are slaves to our distractions and negative tendencies.
Instead of chasing after external pleasures, those who have trained in concentration enjoy an inner freedom and suppleness. With a perfectly concentrated mind we are able to easily progress through the stages of the path to enlightenment.
This silent retreat will cover the instructions on developing faultless concentration that are shared in Geshe Kelsang’’s text ‘Joyful Path of Good Fortune’, and, following the advice from the King of Concentration Sutra, participants will be encouraged to take the form of Buddha as their object of training.

Introduction with Gen Kelsang Rabten
31 - 2 Feb | KMC Australia (Dandenong Ranges)
On this two-day retreat, we have the opportunity to increase our lifespan, merit and wisdom, through the special meditation practice of Buddha Amitayus. Our human life is our most precious possession because it gives us the opportunity to improve ourself and attain the supreme happiness of enlightenment. We therefore need a long and healthy life.
To engage successfully in spiritual practice we also need wisdom, as well as the merit or good fortune that gives our mind the strength to support the growth of inner realizations. Amitayus is the Buddha of long life, merit, and wisdom. By engaging in Amitayus practice, we can develop these qualities and eventually attain the deathless state of enlightenment. We can also use this practice to help remove obstacles that endanger the lives of others, especially our close friends and family.
The retreat will begin with an introductory talk by Gen Kelsang Rabten at 7.30pm on Friday 21 February. On Saturday and Sunday there are three retreat sessions, each consisting of chanted prayers and silent mantra recitation.
All those attending the retreat will receive blessed long life pills. Each session is free of charge and you are welcome to drop in for any or all of them. For those who wish to join us for meals, please book ahead ($8 per meal).

Guided Retreat with Gen Kelsang Rabten
Fri 7 - 10 Mar | KMC Australia (Dandenong Ranges)
There is nothing more precious than our human life, yet it is easy to let time pass without truly connecting with our life’s deeper purpose. While we understand that worrying about others' opinions or getting caught up in stress is not meaningful, it can still be difficult to free ourselves from these anxieties. Buddha's solution lies in deeply contemplating our mortality. By reflecting on nine fundamental truths about our existence, we can liberate ourselves from the fears that ordinary life imposes on us. Instead of letting our lives pass by unlived, we can embrace each moment as sacred, living fully and authentically from the heart.
Join Buddhist monk and Resident Teacher of Kadampa Meditation Centre Australia, Gen Kelsang Rabten, for this transformative retreat.
